How do I create an ODBC connection?

  1. Select Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC).
  2. Select the System DSN tab.

  3. Select SQL Server (SQL Server 2000 database) or SQL Native Client (SQL Server 2005 database).

    DSNSet2
  4. Click Finish.
  5. Enter your DSN Name, Description and Server name. NOTE: DO NOT use (local) for the Server name if it is an option!

  6. Click Next.
  7. Take all the defaults on the next screen.

  8. Check the box next to Change the default database to and select the database. NOTE: For simplicity this should match the DSN Name you entered in Step 5.

    DSNSet5
  9. Click Next.
  10. Take all the defaults on the next screen.

  11. Click Finish.
  12. Click the Test Data Source button. You should get a successful message. If not, please contact your network administrator.

  13. You are now ready to have this connection used with Freight.Ware.
